The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan celebrate the International Women’s Day
Under the theme of “think equal, build smart, and innovate for change”, the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan celebrated the International Women’s Day on 11th of March 2019 at Kabul Management Office. In this special event, all SCA Kabul Management Office staff including women, girls, men and boys participated.
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and national anthem.
The SCA Country Director Mr. Sonny Mansson pledged and said: “In order to raise women’s leadership skills, during the year 2019, SCA will conduct leadership training programs.”
All SCA program and unit managers strongly pledged their commitments to consider gender equality, both strategically and in the implementation levels.
Mr. Serajuddin Joya, Head of Human Rights and Gender Unit said: “To say happy international women’s day, is not only a term but a slogan for us, we really make efforts, invest our resources and energy to bring happiness, prosperity in the lives of women and girls through enhancing their opportunity to access their rights to education, health, economic empowerment and other services. Of course we made a lot of changes, but it is at the result of your effective contributions”, says, Serajuding Joya
To acknowledge the important role of women and girls at domestic and national levels, the SCA considers Malalai Award on yearly bases to be awarded in the International Women’s Day to one of the women who has played an important role and passed challenges for success. Therefore, this year, Mr. Sonny Monsson, the SCA Country Director awarded the Malalai Award to Ms. Farzin Fahimi, the Head of Community Development Council for Shenkot village of Jawzjan province.
The Communications Unit for Afghanistan also contributed and had arranged a photo exhibition to showcase the condition of women and girls in Afghanistan and as well as activities of SCA which are dedicated for women empowerment. Other than that, a theater performance, social activity like cracking balloon and playing song in support of the day, were also part of the event.
