Students have started working as physiotherapist

Nazifa Rahman Neyazi and Mohammad Yasar Mohammadi from Samangan are two participants of this program and it is more than one year that they are working as physiotherapists in Samangan provincial hospital.

Nazifa Says: “Based on the commitment that I had, after spending three years of learning, I joined as physiotherapist in Samangan provincial hospital. Working as physiotherapist is a big honor. I am happy that I serve the women that need physical treatment. The people they are coming to receive physiotherapy services are increasing every day.”

Hasina is 32 years old, lives in Charmgary village of Samangan province. She complains from a pain from her neck. She says: “Many times I went to the doctor and took some medicines, but the result was not good. For some days I am practicing physiotherapy treatment and I am feeling well and the pain in my neck is decreasing every day.”

At the same time, Mohammad Yasar Mohammadi is working in the male section as physiotherapist, and he is happy working with people. He says: “For the first time when I started working here, people coming for physiotherapy treatment was very less. When I talk with people and I explain the importance of treatment. This is the reason that number of our patient are increasing every day. On the monthly bases, almost 200 people receiving physiotherapy services.”

Haji Ahmad is 50 years old, and he is another patient coming for treatment. He says: “My back hurts and I come here to receive physiotherapy service. Everything is fine and my back pain is also well. Before I did not know about the importance and values of physiotherapy services but now, I knew it is effective and useful. Everything is free here.”

Manizha Baburi, Disability Project Manager of Solidarity Committee for Afghanistan in north says: “The first batch of this program was for northern provinces and completed by the end of 2019. The second batch which is 47 male and female students are from north and northeast provinces are started in 2020 which is going on.”

She also added: “The main purpose of this project is training physiotherapist based on the need from the districts and provinces that they face lack of physiotherapists. The public health department of the provinces committed to employ them as physiotherapist.”

The participants of the second round of the physiotherapy program are selected based on local and health clinic needs from 17 districts of north and northeastern provinces. After graduation of these students, problem of some health centers for having male and female physiotherapist will be solved.

This three-year program is financially supported by European Union and implements by Solidarity Committee for Afghanistan.
